Projection lamp burn out

I have had my RCA Scenium for about 2 years. Last year the lamp burned out. I purchased a new lamp and the T.V. worked fine. A year later the lamp burned out again. I replaced the lamp and with in a minute the lamp burned out again. What do think the problem is. These lamps are expensive and the place I purchased the lamp from does not want to replace the lamp because they say that the problem is with the TV.

Projection TV makers charge an arm and a leg for their replacement lamps. They make it easy to do but as a result the custom lamp assy is expensive. The trick is to just buy the bulb for your model TV from any number of us aftermarket sources at a fraction of the lamp price and install it in the old lamp yourself. really easy. Some models are real bulb hogs though. Look them up on the net (include the word complaint or repair) before you buy, or you might be sorry. Many class action lawsuits out there - even against some of the name brand makers.
Hope ya fix it!

So what that means For Every hour TV is Playing it is burning up hrs of lamp. These sets are not like projection that you can run day and night .
Most Lamps need replacing every 2 yrs Depending on how many hours you watch TV?
It could be that the Lamp you have is defective ,Mats has Lamps for $99.00 1-800-628-1118
Get New Lamp then see if that corrects the problem.

Rca scenium 52" has light bar area down each side

I take it that you have watched many hours of 4x3 video on this 16x9 TV . What you see is evidence of screen burn, like they used to warn about with the old "pong" type games with stationary objects. The 4x3 pattern is burned into the phosphor in the projection tubes. the area of the burned pattern is not as efficient as the unused areas that make up the 16x9. If you watch enough 16x9 it may even out somewhat, but will never be perfect. Replacing the tubes will fix it, but they're pricey, and you may be subject to it happening again, depending on your viewing habits.
