Question about Behringer F-CONTROL AUDIO FCA202 External Sound System

1 Answer

Loss of sound on skype

I have a Behringer F-CONTROL AUDIO FCS202 with podcast studio kit, In skype I have the bopth the playback and mic set to FCA202. Every thing is working on the mixer and I can hear sound comning in i.e. other people talking when i call them, but they cannot hear me.

The drivers that came with it I have installed 3 times, and still no good. On doing a hardware test it showed that sound was being received from the mic and it was working ok, its just skype that i cannot make the mike work with.

Does anyone have a solution to this, or does it need a different driver.

My original sound card is still in the PC, does this have to be removed for it to work as i assume the FCA202 is a soundcard in its own right all be it external.

i have the identical problem. skype can't seem to "actually recognize" my fca202 set up. yet everything else works fine w/it. i've asked behringer tech supp for help and they basically said, "what is skype?" wow.

i haven't found jack in the skype help world yet. i am going to begin a hardcore search for the answers to this today. i think podcasters can help with this more than others since many use the fca202 w/skype to record calls.

I purchased this same kit over a year ago. Initially It wouldn't work with Skype and I had hobbled another way until an update must have fixed Skype. It then stopped working just a few days ago after the upgrade to the NEW Skype (with easier audio switching blah blah blah) - I had begun to really rely on this as I could play audio clips into the mix at the same time. I used this sitehttp://www.oldapps.com/skype.htm to go back to the previous version or 2 of skpe, reinstalled the driver and the null driver over and over, to no avail. It seems skype has messed with some other firewire link module or something and it is not removed on uninstall/reinstall. Again, they leave us at the mercy of their whimsicle 12 year old developers, who 'kind' of know how to develop software. Thanks a lot.

How to connect behringer ms16 monitors to a xenyx q8o2usb?

Hello, i've read and watched the manual and the xenyx itself and what. there is to understand if you just read everything. Your speakertje come at the output of your xenyx and that thing you can use as audio source or put your soundsources in your mixer and just play it.
  • Built-in stereo USB/Audio Interface to connect directly to your computer. Free audio recording, editing and podcasting software plus 150 instrument/effect plug-ins downloadable at behringer.com
So just use the mixer as your audio interface and your ready. The xenyx is nice for the money, the ms-16 which they call 'studio'-monitots is offcourse nonsens. Nice sounding laptop speakers are they, but in a home studio you need at least speaker 400euro/piece , but you can play with this nicely.

Driver installation problem

Some computer firewire interface's don't work very well under Windows... However...

Make sure you follow the installation directions to the letter... especially in regard to whether the cable is plugged in while installing...

Also you MIGHT try installing the software in SAFE MODE.

Then in the audio editing software you often have to configure the audio in/out device.

This can realy be frustrating... I just fought a UA 25EX to get it to work and the problem was an incorrect switch to the sample rate.

Set up audio mixer with PC

You must connect:
the main out of the 1202fx, or the ctrl room out of the 1202fx at your power amplifier's input (if there is one)
the line in 11/12 of the 1202fx at your pc's audio card line out. (for playing back)
the cd/tape out of the 1202fx at your pc's audio card line out. (for recording)
in case of a cd, connect it's line out at line in 5/6 (or 7/8, or 9/10) of 1202fx's
some mic at the mic 1 (or 2 or 3 or 4) of 1202fx.
That's the way you're going to have control for:
the mic level from channel 1 (etc).
cd level from channel 5/6 (etc).
pc playback from channel 11/12.
master speakers from main mix or ctrl room.
All the above connections are not absolute and may vary depending on your needs.
About freeware softwares for audio recording and editing I can suggest you:
Audacity (homepage)
Wavepad sound editor (homepage)

In case of a problem or clarification about the connection or the cables, don't hesitate to post.

Thanks and regards

Skype not working

Sir,

Click this link for more information........

http://support.skype.com/index.php?_a=knowledgebase&_j=questiondetails&_i=35

Also Check........

On a PC with external speakers and also a headset with microphone. Windows XP is configured so that standard audio are external speakers and standard microphone is the headset. Skype is configured to use the headset for audio in and out.

This way one can listen to sound from the PC and from MP3 players through external speakers and if there is a call to make or take, this is going through the headset.

But now there is the problem that the noise level for the headset is too low. Increasing volume has no effect on the headset, it only affects the external speaker's volume.

Now the solution: Going to the control panel and opening the sound setting, go to the audio tab. The external speakers are selected as default. Just temporarily select the headset and then click on volume just below. You can now set the volume for the headset, click OK and click cancel (!!!) on the sound control dialog box. This way the external speakers remain as default output.

Skype-->Tools -> Options -->Sound Devices-->audio device/USB/etc Audio Device (do NOT use windows default device)
You can also tick the ring pc speaker check box as this is a good backup to alert you even
if the main speakers are off or turned down.

Windows:
Start-->Control panel-->Sound and Audio devices
On the audio tab set the default playback device to your main soundcard(AC97/Audio-chip/add-on-adapter), etc.
Your installed audio device must be present there.
If not, reinstall audio device

thanks
good luck

Audio Setup for Windows XP and Vista

1. Audio settings, in Windows and Skype

XP: Windows Control Panel / Sounds, Speech and Audio Devices / Sounds & Audio Devices
or Right-click speaker icon in system tray and select "Adjust Audio Properties"

Volume / Device Volume: Make sure “Mute” is NOT checked in this window.
Volume / Device Volume / Advanced: If there is no “Microphone” section in this window, go to Options / Properties and check “Microphone” in the “Playback” list. Then make sure “Mute” IS checked in this window

Audio / Sound Playback: Your on board sound/Sound Card
Audio / Sound Recording: Your on board sound/Sound Card
Audio / Sound Recording / Volume: Make sure "Microphone" is selected and the volume slider is at the center or higher
Audio / Sound Recording / Volume / Advanced: If “Microphone Boost” or “20db Boost” is present, select it

Vista: Windows Control Panel / Hardware and Sound / Sound / Manage Audio Devices
or Right-click speaker icon in system tray and select "Playback devices"

Playback: Your speakers or on board sound/Sound Card must appear in this list, and must show “Working”
Playback: Select your speakers or on board sound/Sound Card, then click “Set Default”
Playback / Properties / General: Device Usage: “Use this device (enable)”
Playback / Properties / Levels: “Mute” is not on, volume slider in the middle

Recording: Your Microphone or on board sound/Sound card must appear in this list, and must show “Working”
Recording: Select your Microphone or on board sound/Sound Card, then click “Set Default”
Recording / Properties / General: Device Usage: “Use this device (enable)”
Recording / Properties / Custom: If “Microphone Boost” is present, select it.
Recording / Properties / Levels: Microphone volume should be centre or higher
Recording / Properties / Levels: If there is a “Mute” button, it must not be on

Skype / Tools / Options / Audio Settings:

Microphone: Your headset/mic or USB device or Web cam mic, as you prefer
Speakers: Your headset, USB device or speakers, as you prefer
Ringing: VoIPVoice USB Phone or on board sound/Sound Card; also tick Ring PC speaker

Note: The audio devices you want to use MUST be present in these Skype device lists. If they are not, check the device connections and driver installations again.

2. Microphone and Speaker connections

Check if your mic (pink) and speaker (lime) jacks are in the proper sockets (it is easy to reverse them) and fully inserted (they sometimes stick only partially inserted)
If your microphone or headset has a “Mute” switch, make sure it is not on
If your speakers or headset has a volume control, make sure it is turned up
For test only you can use an earphone instead of microphone (really)! Just unplug the microphone, plug the earphone into the microphone jack, and talk into your earphones. (I know it sounds silly, but it might tell you if your microphone is defective)
A standard microphone plugged into Line In will NOT work.

3. Check audio in Windows.

XP: Start / All Programs / Accessories / Entertainment / Sound Recorder

Vista: Start [Orb] / All Programs / Accessories / Sound Recorder

Make a short recording with the microphone; you should see the level meters moving as you speak. On Windows XP, you can then play back what you recorded.

4. Once done, test with Skype Test Call (echo123).

Behringer F-CONTROL AUDIO... Problem:

I had a similar problem where as I could use the mic no problem at all but couldn't hear anything through the headphones. The simple solution was to disable the driver for my internal soundcard. It took me 48 hours to work it out! Good luck.
