Hello there, About a month ago my CDJ 800 mk2 suddenly stopped reading copied CD's. IT reads normal CD's fine but will not register copied ones.
Please can someone help me or give me the contact details of a London based repair person with an approximated cost.
    Many Thanks

Sounds like both of you have reading/tray issues. You will more than likely need to have your pickup assembly (cd/laser) replaced. You can order the part HERE, although I don't recommend replacing it yourself.

More than likely your loading motor, or the traverse assembly are damaged, and need to be replaced.

In either case, it is highly suggested that you contact a qualified service technician with this type of repair.

No this is not a common issue. If your traverse assembly is not damaged, then it's possible the loading motor might be the issue.

In either case, I would suggest professional assistance.

Hope this helps.

Not reading disc, motor is running though!

Sounds like your traverse assembly is damaged, and might need to be replaced. Cost for part is roughly about $65, but I would not suggest self-repair, unless you have experience with such electronics.

CDJ 800 mk2. Will play audio cd fine but won't play mp3's

There is no easy fix for this. You will more than likely have to have the CD traverse assembly replaced - you could try a professional cleaning and alignment first - but ultimately, you will have to replace the cd assembly.

More than likely you have a damaged CD transport, or needs to be calibrated or professionally cleaned. I would suggest taking it to a service center.

Not reading cd's anymore.

if you are a electronic technician
you do as follows (you are not consult a technician)
i am not sure, but in my point of view
its due to
  • the eye alignment/replacement problem
  • due to IC chip problem connected to eject button
  • due to dust
  1. first clean (for remove dust) the cd player circuit board, check the cd player is properly working
  2. first mark the position of the screw
  3. align the eye by using a very small screw driver, turn the screw under the eye unit
  4. insert disc and try to play, repeat the steps for getting a better result
