Memorex 1gb player - wont hold 500 songs

It is supposed to hold 500 songs, but it has only taken 189 songs and it says no more will fit, there are no picturs, no videos, nothing else, so why is it doing this?

Well that is a fake number, and first off there is no way a gig will hold 500 songs unless each song was less then 500 kbs also you probably have songs with a large data file

I have an ipod touch 8gb. Supposed to hold about 2000 songs. Have 1023 songs to load from intunes, but get a message saying I need another 1.72 gb of memory. Do you know what that means?

the 8GB is the total space that is on the iPod. a good portion of this is used by the operating system itself. Another consideration is that most song files average 4MB in size, and this is how they calculate it could hold 2000 songs. There are several variables as to how much media you can fit onto a device, but the bag can only hold so much, you need to take something out to fit more stuff in. See if you have any movies or videos synced, this may be part of the problem. Sounds like you just need to do some cleanup of stuff on your iPod.

I purchased a Coby 4 GB MP3 Player. It stated that it will hold 2000 songs but became full at 500. Did I download incorrectly?

When it says 2000 it means that it can hold 2000 songs, considering that each song is 2 MB. So, 2MB * 2000=4000MB=4GB.
So your songs were much larger than that.

I have an 8 gig ipod that holds a little over 1,000 songs but I can barely get a litle over 500 songs on my zen. Why can't I get more songs on to my zen? Most of the files I have on the zen are in mp3...

it all depends on how big the mp3 files are and the quality of the file i know that i can fit about 900 songs on 2 gigs but the quality is severly degraded you can try and use windows media player and under the sync options you can set the bitrate that the mp3 files will be 64kbps is the lowest and least amount of space and quality then you can go higher and better quality but more space is taken i try and leave mine at around 128 or 256 minimum but if quality isnt an issue then go low and cram it full

My ipod holds 500 songs but I only have 320 but when I import a cd an error pops up and says my ipod wll not hold the songs

When they say that an ipod can hold "500" songs the don't actually know that it can it all depends on the format of the song, the version of firmware etc. my suggestion would be take of all your songs re-format them to mp3 or to something that takes up less space and then put them all back on and there you have it... please comment and rate for any help please pm me... lol

My i-pod nano (2GB) will not hold more than 43 songs when I import from my cd's. My ipod is clear of all songs and so is my library. Are I not suppose to have at least a 500 song capacity?

I have an I-pod nano 4 gb. What I think is going on is you are loading full "wav" files. The 500 songs is predicated on low quality "mp3" songs. Normally, I-tunes will convert the "wav" file to an "mp3" file.

Check your music files on your computer and assure they are "mp3" files. If they are make sure your I-pod does not have other "stuff" on it. Use I-tunes to reset it an "like-new" condition (that removes all files)., then use I-tunes to re-install your music.

If you are downloading files from the I-tunes store make sure they are safe so you do not loose your investment in tunes.

Since they are from cd's make sure the ripped files are safe, then try a re-install.

Should work.

According to, you need the software that came bundled with the disk for video conversion- probably not exactly true, but I haven't found any data on what video formats it supports. Not sure about the second problem. This links you to a piece of software that allows you to reset the gadget to it's factory settngs. For the third problem, "500 songs" is a meaningless term- how much disk space a song uses is based on how long the track is, and the sound quality. I think they base the claim of 500 songs on something like 2:30 tracks at 128kb. Your actual mileage will vary- significantly. For the fourth problem... I'm not able to locate the software, but you miight find some useful info at the products page: At the very least, you'll find a tech support phone number or e-mail, and they will most likely be able to assist you.
