I fill the 4 gallon tank with water and place it in the unit. No problem for about 20 minutes and then you can see water leaking out of the sides of the bottom. It seems to be overfilled. How can I stop this from leaking.
I have had my humidifier for only 5 months and it has leaked twice. The second time I watched it closely to see why. There are no hairline cracks that I can visualize. The first night of running went smoothly with no problems. The next morning though the humidifier was completely empty and the desk it was setting on and the floor was drenched!!! I cannot figure out why it is dumping out like it is and I am getting frustrated!!!!!
I am having the same problem - water dumps out all over the floor from the sides and bottom of the unit when we refill the tank. There is a tiny crack in the tank, but we have patched it with tape and glue, and the water is not leaking from there.
Anyway, yea, I've been trying to figure out why this BMC630 randomly leaks. After reading some posts here I took a good look at the water tank near the handle and sure enough there are 2ea 1/2" hairline cracks in the clear plastic on the opposite side of the handle. They aren't cracked enough to let water leak out if I hold it upside down - full of water, but I bet they are just enough to let air in from the top slowly, allowing the bottom to over fill. Repair wouldn't be easy as this tank is going to get wet from time to time when we fill it, so tape or glue would probably weaken over time. I'm also not thrilled with the way the wicks work (they are always dry except for the bottom) so I think we will be returning this one and get something different.
