Re: my computer does not read my ipod

Reset your ipod (by holding menu and centre button at the same time)  when it shuts down you have to quickly move  you fingers from those buttons to the down clicker and centre button before it boots back up. this will put it in diagnostic mode. plug it into your pc/mac to see if it will be rec. if not unplug your printer(s) and ipod (read above) and plug the ipod back in. at any time it is being rec. by itunes you must reset the ipod. this will remove all your songs on the ipod. if this doesn't help... grab a dead blow hammer and hit it a couple times! lol

Re: my computer does not read my ipod

I had the same problem, my ipod nano was not being recognized by my computer or itunes. I did all the checks, then I read an email from someone that said, that they turned off their printer, and their Nano worked. I did the same instead of turning it off I just took it out temporarily out of its port, and then tried again on the usb port where I originally installed it, and it worked. Sometimes one of your other hardware, specially printer, drains the system that it decreases the usb output to less than the necessary number. try that before you do anything else.

3rd gen ipod nano not showing up in itunes

I tried different computers and cords... I ended up opening iTunes without the iPod and going under Help/Run Diagnostics. I selected to run diagnostics on just the iPod, an error message came up and then it worked. I'm not sure HOW it worked, but it did.

Ipod nano 3rd gen

It's in disk mode and the computer thinks that it is only a storage device. You need to reset it to get it back to normal.

You can reset your ipod by holding down the menu and select (round button in the center) buttons down for at least 10 seconds. You'll see an apple logo flash, that's when you stop pressing the buttons. It will shut off, then back on.
