That's fine, you won't need the CD, just install the burner and the computer will automatically recognize it.

this may happen as your DVD reader's lance may got weak. plz check for the same and replace lance if problem exist.

On LG's website they have all the drivers there and upgrades as well

Get on lg website and look for distributers or authorized dealers or you may be able to order it direct from LG , you can also go to appliance parts .com and they will help you.

try installing Nero suite onto your comp and see whether it will rectifying the problem.

Download the latest driver for dvd rom from Acer that will work with Vista SP1. Also try uninstalling the device in device manager and restart your computer. Vista may find "new hardware" and install the driver from its driver pack in SP1.

Try removing the device from device manager, then reboot. Windows should then re-detect the device and re-install the drivers for it. If that doesn't work, try the device on another computer. If it still doesn't work, it's probably defective.

as with all writers eventually they fault at the lens and it gets out of line and cannot read discs, you can try the usual thing of checking LG for any firmware updates, but first:- Go to my computer>right click>hardware tab>device manager, then down list to cd/dvd drives and click '+' sign and highlight your writer, right click on it and select uninstall. Restart PC and it will be automatically re installed, try again and if no change you will need to replace the drive as they are cheaper nowadays.
