i can't locate the scanning software on my laptop for my lexmark x2600 printer/scanner

How do I install the OCR application?

I have downloaded the driver to make my X1270 printer to work with Vista, but when I try to save a scanned image to word, it says I need to install the OCR application on my disc. I tried to do this but it just locked up my computer. How do I install the OCR application?

- I don't want to print the scanned image, I want to save it, and be able to edit it. I could do this with my old computer using Windows 98, but can't on my laptop, using Vista.Solution #1

I guess you are not selecting a printer while you giving print command.
Click on Print, A rectangle box opens with options, on top you will see name, see it shows your printer name " Lexmark X1270 and not microsoft office document writer.
If correct printer is selected then it wont save an image or word file, it will perfectly print your document.
