hi can anybody tell me how to change the phone back to engish as turned it on the other day and everything had reverted back to chinese

I have the same phone, also bought off ebay.

As far as I can tell, there is no English manual.

To get the touchscreen to convert to english characters rather than Chinese ones, you just need to touch the yellow button on the right hand side of the screen with the Chinese characters on it, and it should change and say "Eng".

You can access the memory card either by using the disk button on the front screen or by pushing the home button followed by My Documents. To put the information onto the memory card from a computer you need to remove it from the phone (there is a cover on the left hand side of the phone; take this off and push-and-release the card to eject it) and place it into the USB adapter that came with the phone. Because it is a mini SD card, you need to put the SD card adapter in first (also came with the phone), then put the phone SD card inside it.

As for the SIM card problem, I found mine a little difficult to get in but I have no problems. The SIM has to go under the little metal clips in the SIM card slot.
