My daughter can't get BBC1, 2 and 3 since 4

my daughter can't get BBC1, 2 and 3 since 4 November. Signal comes from Winter Hill. My TV is a Goodman (with built in Video)and my freeview is a Pace. My Pace system automatically searches but misses those 3 channels.

- I am to tune the Pace freeview system or the television itself? The aerial is pointed at winter hill.

- Sorry yes it is my daughter's tv and Pace system. It is me getting confused. Is it the TV (Goodman)or freeview (Pace) that needs re-tuning. The Pace is automatic tuning and she doesn't know how to override that or is the TV that she has to re-tune through the TV remote. Sorry but I we are not technically minded and we are getting very confused. It is not as simple as they say on the TV. Our aerial points to winter hill. (My TV has a Sky Box).

When TV channels are moved from one frequency to another frequency that was previously used by a different channel (sorry, but there's no simple way of saying that !) as has happened recently in th UK, some digital TVs and digiboxes struggle to sort the channel list out properly and channels can go missing as you describe.

If your equipment has the option to delete all currently stored channels (normally in the tuning menu options) then do so and then do a full re-tune.
Sometimes, this solves the problem as the equipment is no longer aware of any previous use of a frequency and just loads every channel it finds.

If this doesnt work, or your equipment doesnt have the option, then there is normally the option soemwhere in the menus to retore the item to "factory defaults/configuration". This will clear all previously stored channels and after a full re-tune your missing chanels should be there. However, any other configuration changes you previously made, e.g picture size, output type (RGB/NSCT/etc), etc will be lost and you'll need to set these again.

NB. some regions of the country have lost some channels temporarily now until after the switch over programme completes at the end of 2012. If you visit the Freeview website, this will tell you if your area is affected.

- If your TV doesnt have it's own built-in Freeview decoder, then just the Pace digibox.

Sorry if I havent made myself clear but your original question is a little confusing as to who had the problem, as you start with "My daughter cant get BBC1........" and then refer to "my televison" and "my Pace system", so I was trying to give a general method for any equipment that can recieve Freeview.

- It is the Pace unit that needs to be retuned.

Does your daughter still have the user's manual/booklet that came with it ? If she does, have a really good read through it looking for the options I outlined in my original post. If not, let me know the model number of the Pace unit and I will try to find the manual for it - no promises I'm afraid as it really depends how old the unit is.
