Question about Samsung DLP HL-P5663W 56" TV

Samsung LCD LNT4042H

Today I received my new Samsung LCD TV. I completed the programing then started changing channels. I have found that some channels are fine for a couple of seconds then the sound goes off. If I change channels then go back to the previous channel the sound is back again for only a couple of seconds then nothing. Some of the channels don't seem to be affected but there are quite a few that are. I would appreciate it if you could tell me how to fix this problem that I am having. Thanking you in advance for any assistance that you can give me regarding this problem.

Re: Samsung LCD LNT4042H

Hi Barb,
Unfortunatly the problem you are asking about is a normal happening in our area with customers of mine that use rabbit ear or house mounted antennas ( Normally not cable or satellite dish). This problem sounds to me like a lack of signal strength on certain channels where your loosing your sound. Since your LCD TV is digital it requires a bit more signal strength to produce sound and picture. Maybe a better antenna, or redirection the antenna toward the station transmitter. Hope this helps.

How do i program my channels

Your Toshiba tv can be automatically tuned to all stations. The procedure follows.

Programming channels automatically

Your TV can automatically detect all active channels and store them in

you can add or erase channels manually.

To add channels automatically:

1. Press MENU, then press "left arrow" or "right arrow" button to display the SETUP menu.

2. Press "Up arrow"or "down arrow" until the TV/CABLE

selection is highlighted.

3. Press "left arrow" or "right arrow" button to highlight either

TV or CABLE, depending on which you use.

If you use an antenna, choose TV.

If you use cable, choose CABLE.

4. Press "down arrow" button until the CH PROGRAM selection is highlighted.

5. Press "left arrow" or "right arrow" button to start channel programming. The TV will automatically

cycle through all the TV or Cable channels (depending on which you

Setting up a new TV

you will receive upwards to 150 channels (depends on how the tv is designed) you will not receive all the channels which you receive on the tv which has the "box". You will need an addtional box if you want to receive essentially any 200 or above channel.
Hope this helps

make sure the remote is operating, try new batteries, or try selecting your channels from the customer access keyboard on the tv to make sure that the tv is not in "lock up". If you are using a universal remote it could have been taken out of programming, you might have to run the program procedure again.

We have been trying to set the channels in our old picture tube tv. it scans through the channels and once complete, you can only watch the last channel found and once you go to change channels, it...

Be sure your tv is programing with a correct signal. Air or cable channels, and that you do have a line going into the RF connector [antenna signal]. If you have a satellite or cable box your tv will only tune to channel 3. Also, if you are logged into a dvd player or will only have one channel memory. Remove any of the external players [games, dvd, vcr etc.] And retune with auto program!

My sansui tv is hooked up to my cable; it gets channels 4 - 13 beautifully...but nothing else. how do i program it to receive the rest of my cable channels? It's a 2004 tv.

you need to go into the menu section of your tv and find the channel auto program and let it start and finish completely {the menu should go off it self when its done} then you should be good.

I'm confused about HD (high definition) and digital

In Australia analogue TV signals will be phased out and finished by the end of 2009 (I think).
If you have a standard analogue TV you won't be able to receive any more free to air analogue TV programs when they stop brocasting these TV signals. To recieve the new digital signals you need to buy a digital set top box (which receives digital TV signals and converts it to analogue signal that can be displayed on your old TV). The set top box will only receive Standard Definition signals and this is a lower screen resolution that is available from High Definition signals.

Digital TV signals offer approx. 15 TV channels ln High definition and Standard Definition, different programs channels will be available from the same TV broadcaster, although the High Definition pograms will also be repeated on one of the Standard Definition channels.

High Definition gives a sharper image than Standard dedinition, but you may not notice much difference because it depends much on the material you are viewing, You will notice how clear DVD and BlueRay movies are compared with the VCR tapes. To get the best images from DVD movies your player must be connected to the HDMI connector on your High Definition TV (provided your DVD player has one, usually BlueRay players will have one, they also will play normal DVD disks).

If you purchase a new High Definition TV you will also be able to receive all the Digital TV programs. Currrently these TVs are avail in Plasma or LCD screens and there are newer technologies within a few years. The Plasma screens use twice as much energy (electricity) as a LCD screen. It is suggested that the viewing distance to the TV should be 3.5 times the size of the TV screen.

Hope this answers your query.
