-   Hi,
I also have problems recording form the HDD to a disc. I have tried many different makes of disc but cannot even get the machine to recognise them it keeps asking me to insert a recordable disc. The machine will not format a disc as it cannot recognise ther is one there.
Can anyone recommend a specific brand of disc that will work or help me with the problem.
Just bought unit. Had same problem.Tried lots of different types of disks with no luck. Tried to play already written +R disk. Worked OK. Then took out and replaced with blank -R. Came up with new screen asking me if I wanted to initialize disk. Answered yes and it took about 20 seconds. Then tried to DUB from HDD to DVD again. This time it came up with the dubbing menu, I hadn't seen before, and worked. Hardly ideal, but the trick was to get it to recognise it as a blank and initialize. Currently burning my first disk. Didnt realise about 'FAST' mode, so taking ages.
The recordings you've made on the HDD are they of standard definition TV broadcasts (SDTV) or transferred from copyrighted DVD sources? If they are coy-protected they will not record, if the size of the recording exceeds the DVD's capacity it will ask for a media with greater capacity, such as a Dual-Layer DVD. Ensure that your recordings do no exceed 4.3GB and it should work okay. I'd be surprised if the unit did no warn you, but then again it depends on how lazy the design engineers have been.
I could not find the exact manual for this on line but, I didn't search for very long.
Try to transfer a small clip of 5 minutes standard definition TV. If that fails it's probably a faulty unit and you need to get it exchanged or repaired. Depending upon were you live LG have a fairly inexpensive telephone support service who can guide you through some simple tests to determine if it's a faulty unit. They can also tell you were your nearest service centre is located.
