Cant connect to the internet!!!

I own a Dell Latitude D600, ever since I've got it I was able to connect to the internet via Ethernet. A couple of weeks later I bought a router and was able to connect wireless to the internet. In december I moved and when I tried to log in to the internet via wireless or vie ethernet I cant connect to the internet. At first I thought the problem was with the router but now Im thinking is the laptop. I did post a problem at this website trying to configure the router I did get a solution, tried it and did not work. I tried restoring the laptop it to a previous date but when it reboots it says: Restore incomplete changes have not been made to computer. I don't know what else to try....

I have dsl service. Now how do I reinstall the drivers orwireless card?

  • hugo75 Jan 13, 2008

still nothing.... I already reinstalled both the wireless card and the ethernet and still I don't get internet on my laptop. This is the way I have it set up. Phoneline to modem, modem to lynksis router ( model WRT54G vers.8) from there to my desktop comp. I do get internet access on my Desktop but when I try conecting the ethernet direct to my laptop what I do is I disconnect the modem from the router and connect it directly to the laptop. Once I connect it to the laptop I can see the ethernet driver working, but when I try to connect to the Internet it says unable to connect to the server. please check your connection before trying again. what else can I try?????????????

How far did U move? Do You need to change the dailer settings in the routers config?
To verify your hardware connectivity you can click: Start/Run/CMD to open a DOS prompt. Then type IPCONFIG /all and see the TCP/IP information for all connected NIC's

Well first i can suggest trying to reinstall the drivers for the ethernet controller and the wireless card you are using. if that does not solve the problem, then are you subscribed to internet through cable, which is what your router connects to?

for all of your driver downloads, go to http://support.dell.com/support/download...= and then open the networking menu. i'm not sure exactly which wireless card you have, otherwise i would be more help with that. on that webpage there is also drivers for the integrated ethernet card, incase you want that. also, a few utilities.

you may have your TCP\IP configured manually. you should change that to allow it configure itself automatically. if you need help doing this, click start, go to control panel. view network connections. then click the ethernet adapter. from there, scroll the middle down to "Internet Protocol(TCP\IP)" then choose to allow it to configure itself manually.

SOURCE: dell latitude d600 needs ethernet

Hi. thanks for your question.
Please go to this website where you can find all for the drivers for your laptop. http://support.euro.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=uk&cs=ukdhs1&l=en&s=dhs&ServiceTag=&SystemID=LAT_PNT_PM_D600&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid=
Once on the website go to the "network" part. I think your driver is the "broadcom-driver". Download and go to the location where it's been saved. Double click on downloaded file. Once installed restert your laptop.
Please do not hesitate to ask more questions if this is needed. Thank You for using FixYa

I JUST BOUGHT A USED DELL LATITUDE D600 LAPTOP (MODEL PPO5L) WITH XP I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO GET INTERNET SERVICE TO IT. I HAVE A (VISTA) HOME PC THAT HAS ALLTEL WIRELESS SERVICE. WHAT DO I DO?

If you are using a modem/router with ethernet ports on the back then just plug in an ethernet cable to the modem/router and the laptop. No drivers needed

If he modem/router has only a USB connection then you will need to put drivers into the D600 as are in the PC. I guess they would be on a CD Rom supplied with the modem/router. As the other PC is Vista it would be quite likely the USB drivers will be different for the XP system. You will have to check that one out youself

You can try setting up a new internet connection through the internet connection wizard, but you will probably need a disc from Sprint in order to do this.

There is no availabe network driver for this Latitude d600 found on the dell support website that will work for vista. Most probably this computer is not configured to work with vista.

Call Dell Technical support for answers.
