Question about Dell Latitude Cp, Cpi, Cpx, C600, C800, Inspiron 3800 8000 4000 601212 CD-ROM Drive
The laptop has been working wel but i switched on this morning but it failed to start what i can hear is the harddisk beginning to run then it stops. and computer is off without any display and the fan does not even runn when i switch it and hear the sound from the laptop. pliz help am in desperately in need.
First changing the memory chip in computer. Memory chip may have gone bad or wrong memory chips were placed, if received computer with problem. Second try reformating or replacing hard drive (if you hear a clicking noice and then laptop powers off then this can be a sign that your hard drive is defective). Hope this helps, Ed.

I had the same problem. I had a bad system board. I changed it and it powers up fine. My suggestion, get a new one from Dell. I got a reconditioned on from ebay that worked well for about 2 weeks. Now the LCD only stays on for 5 minutes at a time.
