Question about Acer (91.42R37.001) CD-RW/DVD-ROM (Combo) Burner

My disk drive wont power up

Every time i put a disk in it locks up and wont let me take it out and then it wont read the disk at all. this is a brand new computer and i really dont understand whats wrong with it.

I burn my cd with windows media player... but now the burn does not let me burn all it tells me is ''connect a burner and restart player'' how do i do that can someohelpne

These drives don't work unless you have a non-microsoft CD and/or DVD burning software program. Some Acer el cheapos come with either no program, or one which is configured for Windows XP instead of Vista and therefore causes conflicts and won't work (I speak from experience). Acer is pretty horrible about their support--they might not even inform you whether your computer came with burning software, and they hand out generic insructions which don't list what YOU should have. I recommend downloading Belarc explorer, a free program which not only tells you everything in your computer, with model numbers for hardware and all of your software (with their unique codes), but will also inform you if you are missing any needed Windows updates. Once you know what you have, call Acer telephone support (if you go online for support, they don't even list their telephone number, but try to trick you into thinking you have to use their hair-tearing lousy self-diagnosing troubleshooting programs online, which are worse than useless), and if you get a rep who won't help you, demand to speak to a supervisor, and demand the help you have paid for. It is their problem, not yours. If they tell you it is a Microsoft problem, not theirs, they lie--all preinstalled microsoft programs are serviced by the computer manufacturer, not microsoft. Yes, it appears that a new driive is in your future. Don't by Pioneer, get a TDK, Plextor, or BenQ (my favorites.)

My crx230e will read but wont write. i went to properties it said this device is working properly. i put in a new blank disk and it says insert disk ! please help thanx dan

Often in an attempt to bargain shop we settle for the off brand of CD selections. Most of the time any CD will do , but in some cases, the drive just wont recognize the disc as burnable media. This may be the case in the problem your having.

well if its new i would say return it, if not then i would suggest to use canned air and blow out the inside of it and try it again. if that don't work then i would recommend getting a new one.

My LG GWA 4146b wont read any disk i put in, just

is it for a particular disk or all??
assuming for 'all' and with all data cables n jumpers r sitted correctly....
if u r a professional, open it up, with the lens assembly there is a small preset, turn it using a screw driver a little anti-clockwise..clean the lens with clean cotton using isopropyl alcohol..
if not done, replace the lens assembly..
or else, replace the drive with a standby n see.. ur System Admin/Vendor....

PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-106D will burn but won't read

i have the same problem ,but when i restart my pc ,i put the disk it can read without a doult .The problem is your disk drive can't read disk when it on windows mode ,using dos and it just fine,some kind of trouble appear cause i burn too much disk in a time and it can't read next time i open computer .May be your windows problem just restart wins then put the disk in ,if it appear the green light it mean it's reading then the green light off it's mean it had identify the disk and does read it

Cant install program from DVD drive GWA-4164b

First check that your system meets the minimum you have at least 512mb of ram, CPU of at least 2Ghz Pentium4 or equivalent(with off-board video), and your hard drive has >4GB of free space.....can view full list at:
Is SPORE on a duel layer dvd? If your drive is on the older side, you might try a newer one or you can try the following:
--take out an empty flash drive with
--go to a computer that will read the disk...if you have another computer or u can use someone elses
--put the disk in their computer and if the computer is able to read the disk, then put your flash drive in the computer and copy the disk onto your flash drive...
-y-ou can now try to install the program from your flash drive instead of using the disk...
NOTE: Trying this method wont cause any damage, but if the disk is encripted or if the install software is set to check for the disk during installation, then this may not work, but is worth trying since because a) even if it doesn't work, no harm is done, and b) you wont need to replace your disk drive if it does work.

My dvd burner wont read or recognize a copyed disk is in drive

My Optorite DD0405 will not burn a DVD+R DL disk? is this because its not supported by the burner? I have Nero 9 and would like to burn 4.8 GB of a file from my desk top to a DVD DL with 8.5 GB space. How can I do this

Uninstall You DVD/CD Rom Driver From Device manger in Control Panel and then Something Should Come Back Saying Installing Drivers For Your Device Wait Till Finishes Or If It Cannot locate driver browse for location and put C:/Windows If C Drive Is your windows drive put it But The Windows Folder Is Compulsory .

It Should Install The Drivers But Still If It Doesnt Work I Think You Just Have to Download Firmware For The Exact Model Of Your Drive Try Google or the Web Of The Manufacturer .

If It Still Doesnt Work I Hope You Have A Limited Warranty
Just Return It Or Give It to Test....

My dvdrom drive wont let me access the drive

ITs a dvd rom drive. It will not burn blank dvds
in order to burn, it has to cd-r/cd-rw/dvd-r/dvd-rw. If a drive cannot write to a blank disc, it will eject it. Rom drives read only (Read Only Memory), Combo drives- burn cd's only read dvd's, and super drives both read and write to cds and dvds.

DVD problem

DVD's come in two kinds of media. There is -r and +r. check the disk you are trying against the drive letters your drive has on the front and be sure they are compatible. Also check the manufacturer's website for the latest drivers. Always try different brands of media, especially if you have burned DVD's instead of purchased ones.
