Cd dvd rom not working it says driver missing or

I had a similar problem after a virus attack on yahoo messenger ..it affected my cd-rom driver ...and pretty much all the rest ..but first it ...I tried to reinstall but no luck ...so ...until I reinstalled the pc with a clean install I mean from the disk and formatting the C partition ...I didnt get anything ..but it worked after ...so ..this is what I suggest too ..
but first I suspect it to be disabled too ...so ..restoring factory defaults in the Bios will be a good thing too...
also you might try to look for it in the hardware manager ...and try to install it ..by downloading its driver ...and than run the wizard for installing from there ...just click update driver ...if it will be in yellow with an ask sign it means that has no driver ..
but ..reinstalling clean its still the right way ...Keep in mind that installing from a recovery stored in another partition ..might not do the job ..cause either it sees it disabled...or ..the virus that cause it ..do not dissapear ..and restores the damages..
