This error means that there is something obstructing the printing process. Check inside your printer through the gears that you can see under the lid. There should be something obstructing the gears such as dirt or other small debris. Check VERY thoroughly with a flashlight.

Get "canned air" at any computer or office supply store and blow the inside of the printer out as much as possible. Invariably, the debris will loosen up and come out.

Error message 5100

I work with printers a lot and usually if there was an error code 5100, it had something to do with a timing strip. I try to explain it in the video and show how to remove problem and the error code will disappear. No magic! Try this fix:

5100 error message

Hello and Welcome to FixYa!

Error 5100 means that the cartridge can not be detected by the printer
.
Actually the printer is not actually loading the cartridge and showing you the error 5100.

To solve these follow the following steps
  1. Turn off printer
  2. Remove both the cartridges from the printer
  3. Use a clothe moistened with alcohol to clean the surface contact on the cartridges where the terminals inside the printers touches
  4. Return the cartridges
  5. Turn on the printer.
Error will be removed.

I hope this solution helps you

Canon mx700 5100 error

The 5100 error usually indicates a problem with the printer knowing where the printhead carriage unit is.

Chances are that when you cleared the jam you dislodged, damaged or otherwise skewed the little calibration strip at the back of the printer.

This strip is a clear bit of plastic that has lots of thin black lines on it and it's used by the printer to sense where it is.

If it's not that then it's most likely something jamming the printhead carriage somehow... ink soaked bits of paper are a favourite that I used to miss a lot.

Hope that helps.

I get ERROR 5100 message for my i350 printer...of course it will not print. How is this fixed? Please help.

I had the error code 5100 for my canon pixma ip6220d printer and all it was a pen in the track of the cartridges. I've been looking for that pen for awhile too. So I would say look for something in the way of the cartridges. Hope this helps everyone.
