Check the Power Supply board to see any puffed capacitors. If found faulty cap, replace them.

This is the common problem with this model of RCA TV, the problem is not defective LED strips, but the power supply.

You may purchase a power supply on the net, but you can't guaranty that it is a good one.

This is the trick to make this TV work:

On the power supply, locate the R410 100K resister, solder a 220K/0.125W resistor in parallel with it, this will race up the oscillation frequency of the back light power supply circuit & make the voltage stable.

It is not a proper service procedure, but it works for us.

How to repair projection TV (fades in and out)

This thing you have do:

  1. Open the cover of your TV.
  2. Look at the CRT driver board inside and remove all screws including the cover of that board.
  3. Then rotate the CRT board in reverse position to apply a voltage data.
  4. Power on the TV to start a voltage data.Use a multimeter (range on DC) then place your black prob(-) to the ground of the TV and the other one is place on the B+ that usually found on the 3rd pin of the ply-back transformer.Check the B+ voltage if you have a 100-120vdc.
  5. I'm sure you have the B+ voltage because your TV is not totally dead.Check the reading of the B+ if it is flickering.
  6. If the B+ voltage is flickering and you hear a clicking sound, try to hang the connection of the B+ to the fly-back then look at the reading if still flickered or stable. If the reading is stable when the B+ connection is hang. You have to replace the ply-back because it is shorted.
  7. And finally after you replace the ply-back.Power it ON.
Thank you for reading my tips.

Samsung 244T 24" LCD Monitor suddenly lost

Hello,

The problem you are having is a common symptom of a failure in the power supply. Parts called capacitors start failing. When they fail they stop filtering the voltages correctly and the power supply shuts down to prevent additional damage. If you would like more information on capacitor failure please check out this page on our web site explaining what they are and what they do: http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/capacitors/ If you can solder then you can do the repair yourself. We have a kit available with all the capacitors that you need to replace. The kit details can be found at: http://www.ccl-la.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=124 The kit contains all of the capacitors that need to be changed on the board to return it to full operation again. Olevia 242T 42" LCD HDTV - Suddenly No Picture, Nothing Works

I heard they were restructuring their company or something.
There has been a change ownership from Syntax-Brillian to Olevia International Group.
Details of Olevia brand
Unfortunately for all of us (we have 747i) service seems very poor and the failure mode you describe doesn't give me any clues despite 40+ years of service experience.
Ours is still 100% but I now suspect our trouble will come.

If your DVD player is separate from your tv, you might have a loose cable plug or connection. Depending on the type of flicker you have, a vertical circuit loose connection would cause this. If you could connect it to a cable or antenna it might tell you where the problem is located. A faulty circuit in the DVD might cause this too. Stargazer
