If it's still under warranty you could bring it black to the place you purchased it and have them fix it for free. Trying to fix it on your own could not only make it even worse, but endanger you in the process.

My tv keeps shutting off. it works fine for a couple of days and at times it only goes back on when i keep plugging it into the power outlet.

Toshiba 55H70 55" Take the back off and pull the HV power board and check all the solder joints, seem to me that you has a cold solder joint. check it out be carefull with high voltages.

TV shuts itself off after a couple minutes of being on.

One must be very careful of the quality of the replacement lamp. Many of the cheap 'deals' on the web for replacement lamps are substandard. I always recommend that replacement bulbs be the original manufacturers bulb.

Sounds like something minor in the standby voltage circuitry, However it will eventually prevent the set from working. I would check the voltage regulators and capacitors in the power supply.

Toshiba TZ55X71

It really depends. If the board is cracked or broken then I would say no, if it is something more simply repairable then sure, call a repair shop to get an estimate then go from there. With the price of TV's these days it may not be cheaper to replace, but then again your current one may not even be repairable.
