xbox was overheating it had 2 red lights that stayed on, I did the whole procedure with the heat sinks and the thermal compound, put it all back together and now there is 2 "flashing" red lights.
One or both heat sinks is not making full
contact with the chips .
Open the unit back up and remove the
washers all of them their not needed.
just tighten the G.P.U. heat sink evenly.
not to tight.
The C.P.U. heat sink will also need to be
reseated if it got pulled , just push down
firmley on it and that should do it.

- Bolting down the heat sink with to much force
will warp the board and will snap connections
under the G.P.U. due to expansion and contraction.
Warped 360 pc board are difficult to get a good recovery
on. evan with the proper re-flow equipment to re solder
the chips. just a little info
Hi,
The x-clamp or repair kits, are quite efficient And effective.
But the actual Torque/Tightness of the Bolts Are very Important.
Usually when a 360 Overheats, with the original X-Clamps fitted. The motherboard Warps. The method is to :- repair the cpu/gpu heatsinks, apply a small amount of thermal Compound, And gently pinch-Tight the bolts. Then Run the xbox without the Fan Connected for a few Minutes to heat-up the Motherboard. then clamp the bolts a little tighter. these can be awkward, but with trial and error are usually repairable.
Also to be noted, are the older style heatsinks ( without Copper heat-Pipe ) are not as efficient as the newer or revised version.

after adding a fan, a wire was pinched and grounded. The voltage regulator labeled 733 blew up. That is all I can read on the regulator (triac?). Where can I find the correct component number for replacement? This is on the bottom of the mothor board directly under the 3 pin fan connection. The fan circiut has no power
