Re: DVD problems???

I think its a software problem
do you have nero installed, if not download it from
see if you can burn to the drive..
id you cant then it means your registery is messed up you can download tune up uilities and run the registry cleaner, as well

if that fails you will need to format your computer :)

os some dribes have problems reading certin brands of blank dvd's, try anoter type of media before trying any of the above .,,

I am unable to format a DVD-RW disc on my Windows XP computer

Typically, you use DVD/CD writing software to write files to the disc.
There is no 'formatting' involved.
If, however, you want to use a DVD/RW disc as a "big floppy" then you need special software for that. What software came with your DVD writer? or You can use free "Nero InCD", -> Download

Hope it helps.

For OS XP, you must have at least, WinXP Service Pack 2 installed.

Cd rw can not copy and read dvd

A CDRW is not capable of reading and writing files on a DVD. It is only capable of reading and writing files on a CD. If you need a drive that can read and write files on a DVD the you need to get a DVD+-RW drive.

How do I format a disc (DVD or CD) on Windows XP?

You only format a CD/RW or a DVD/RW, which are re-writeable.

Regular discs do not need to be formatted (CD-R or DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD+R DL, etc.).

To format the DVD/RW idisc, use the "burner" software ( Sonic?, Nero?) and choose [Tools] [Erase Disc] (erase is the same as format)

I download video from my flip video, but I cannot burn to says to insert CD which I have already done

What CD are you using to Burn then movie?

Get a Blank DV Rewriteable CD (make sure its blank)

Format the DVD CD by right clicking it from Windows Explorer and follow the instructions. (this should not be neccessary especially if its a blank CD)

Use a normal copy and paste from Windows Explorer to copy the movie file or folder into the DVD drive.

this process absolves the issue of media formats and portability. Also most CD DVD Burning Softwares are not compatible with some players.

Won't recognize blank dvd

Chek wtat is written on front panel
If it DVD-RW it can record only DVD-R blank, if it + so only +R
or DVD-RAM. If it is DVD +/- RW or RAM it can record any disk.
Also chek the speed for you DVD and disk you using.
If you dvd maximum speed for recording is for example 2.7, 4, 8 you should use only DVD with max speed 2.7, 4, 8 or 1-8, 1-16 etc. So they should be labeled the same as you DVD
Good Luck
