Have to press buttons 6-10 times to work(URC 7740 Remote Control)

Mine doesn't work half the time either (URC 7740 Remote Control). I almost always have to press the buttons over and over and over again at least 6-10 times before it finally responds. My Tivo remote NEVER did this. The remote has done this since day one and was brand new (only a few months ago). Every once in a while it will actually respond to every button immediately after I hit it but it is a very rare occasion.
