HD Channels have grey strip above and below picture?
When the TV is on an HD channel, there is a gray strip above and below the picture as well as a black strip on either side. Is this a condition of HD channels or is this a specific problem? Also, below the top gray strip, there is a line (which is video interference or noise, I believe) that separates the top gray strip from the picture. I would appreciate some assistance with regard to these issues.

Amazon.com, Inc.JVC HD-52Z575 52" HD-ILA HDTV-ready rear-projection TV ... The picture was artifacted and the color was good, but not great. ... From 5' some minor issues could be seen and the MPEG2 format did show its limitations, but at 10', it was a truly great experience! ... There is no true gray temperature, only high and low.

Did your HD D.L.P. t.v. stop working? This movie clip will showyou step by step how to easily fix your big ...Missing: grey
you have to take in affect on how old is the tv if you have had it a few years then the screen is going out and will only be a matter of time before it goes all the way out and you will be buying a new one if it not old and its one of the newer flat panels then its the signal that the tv is receiving if its hooked to a digital antena then you only get max of 720 from it on certain channels no matter if the channel or channels are showing hd with out a hd source your tv will not show better then that i have a 42 inch hd flat panel and use a antena and the best i get from my hd broadcast channels certain times will i get true hd like when the news is showing or when one of the series that was filmed in hd is on other then that i only get a 720 picture instead of a 1080 most commercals are not film in 1080 but in 720 max and i dont know why makes no since
Just got through to Samsung support. Turns out the freeview card had frozen and needed a reset. To do this put tv on standby. then press in serries these buttons on the remote: 'info' 'menu' 'mute' 'power' TV will then turn on with a default screen. Press 'arrow down' button untill you reach option 12 'reset' . then push the 'right arrow' and tv will reset and start in plug and play mode and commence a scan when you've set the time. Just retuned mine and its back to normal. Hoorah!!! :-)
Your TiVo is only recording basic cable (i.e., channels it can receive without a cable box). You will need a digital cable box from your cable company to record channels above 99. If your TiVo is a Series 2 you will not be able to actually record in HD either. You should be able to record the HD channels from the cable box, but they will not be HD quality. (This is my current setup and while the picture quality is much better than basic cable, it pales compared to bypassing the TiVo and watching HD directly off the cable box to the TV.)
