I have a gateway pc laptop w/ windows vista, amd turion 64x2 mobile tech... just bought last year, my dvd drive is a dvdrw multirecordable with laserflash technology and is also a cd rw and for some reason, my computer has decided out of the blue to pretend it doesn't exist. it says the driver is corrupt, yet it refuses to allow another driver to replace it. the dvd drive itself, does work. how do i get it to recognize? When I disable and erase the driver and then let the computer recognize there's dvd in there, it loads the driver over again and says there is a problem installing it. It's a dvd/cd-rom - Optiarc DVD RW AD 7563A ATA device. The driver is listed as cdrom.sys and there is another driver in the box with it that says GEARAspiWDM.sys. Please help!!!!!!

Microsoft Windows Vista Click Start, and then click All Programs. Click Accessories, and then click Run. Type regedit, and then click OK. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow. In the navigation pane, locate and then click the following registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} In the right pane, click UpperFilters.
Note You may also see an UpperFilters.bak registry entry. You do not have to remove that entry. Click UpperFilters only. If you do not see the UpperFilters registry entry, you still might have to remove the LowerFilters registry entry. To do this, go to step 8. On the Edit menu, click Delete. When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes. In the right pane, click LowerFilters.
Note If you do not see the LowerFilters registry entry, unfortunately this content cannot help you any further. Go to the "Next Steps" section for information about how you can find more solutions or more help on the Microsoft Web site. On the Edit menu, click Delete. When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes. Exit Registry Editor. Restart the computer.

Hello, I have the Acer 2480 Series Laptop and I downloaded Internet Explorer 8 on it It slowed my computer down and then I uninstalled it not knowing that it would take some of my files for Internet Explorer off. Now I can only get into Internet explorer and the other servers on my computer can't get into anything. I was advised to wipe the system clean and start over. How do I do that and how do i recover the programs that came with my computer if I don't have the start up disk. I do have a Resource Cd, would that be the same?
