I have a 32'' Vizio LCD, i heard a pop sound and now i have no picture and no sound. The tv will power up but you have to unplug to turn it off. what could this be, a fuse?
Your filter capacitors have popped due to diodes shorting, P-channel FETs shorting from gate-to-drain. Pull-up resistors have changed value and as a result your capacitors have peaked (popped)....so now the tv is in protection mode to prevent further damage to your tv. Take it to your local shop for servicing, or take it back if its under warranty......

- The tv has No picture and No sound after popping noise right?...........
The popping noise your heard is either some kind of inductance arcing or a popped capacitor. The tv has low-voltage closed DC power (green light) but theres a DC high voltage shut down. This means the power supply is not feeding high DC voltage to the other circuits. The main board (Processor Interface) is not getting its high-voltage (14-18v) DC to Up-Start its other system controls. Critical Waveforms are not being generated. So the tv's protection circuits are in affect to prevent a fire from starting.
If the TV does power up then at least the 5v standby circuit is working, but the problem can be in the main controller board since you cannot turn it off (it is not sending the signal to the main power supply to turn off)

I'm fairly sure, unless I dreamed it up, that I saw an article in the Daily Telegraph a short while ago stating that a little know EU ruling had been introduced regarding electrical goods warrantees, in that these were being extended, so that the statutary 1 year warranty was no longer valid, as suggested by retailers,. Effectively, if a product went wrong after this 1 year period, the retailer still had to repair a product if it failed for whatever reason within a 2 or 3 year period.I believe this has been introduced as there are an increasing number of products failing after the 1 year warranty period or ithis just 'Murphy's Law'?? Am I completely mad??? Charles Morris
