(O6 silverado 5.3 Shifts way too much

engine speed sensor problem take it to a dealer unfortunately..

It is if, it is locking out your overdrive. Check to see if it shifts into all the gears your transmission has... ie. 5 speed = 4 shifts.

Im sure someone else has already got back to you on this but i would change fluid and filter and you could also very well have a sensor going bad thats where i would start

Solenoid coil warms up and dissipates too much voltage with age and needs replacing. Bottom of overdrive unit. Sometimes cleaning and adjusting can help extend their life a bit.

I think rebuild try and service it if you find any lining material in the pan bad news

maby the overdrive disk is burnt out

have a 1998 K3500 silverado 4x4 with 454 motor and 4L80E transmission. I can not get over 55 or 60 mph. At that speed the transmission down shifts from 4th (OD) to 3rd. The speedometer also drifts from about 50 to 65. If I try to speed up it will down shift to 3rd. I have replaced the VSS on the trasfer case. Is there another speed sensor somewhere? Or could it be the TPS? The truck drives and shift normal up to this point. where should i look next. thanks

You are going to need the transmission rebuilt.
