I have a 42" lcd Vizio TV. My screen is completely black but you can see there is light in the back of the set. I cannot access the menu nor can I turn off the power without unplugging the unit. What do you think the problem is and how can I get it fixed. I have the TV for 2 1/2 years
If its a plasma tv there's not light behind the display panel, I was a bit confused when I read that....LOL Light behind the tv will only happen if its an LCD tv because it uses CCFL's to illuminate the LCD panel. Plasma displays generate their own light from the plasma pixels.
Anyway,
If its an LCD tv then either the inverter, power, or time control circuits need to be serviced or replaced. If its a plasma tv then your X or Y sustain, or power circuits need to be serviced or replaced. The interface can cause a similar problem also but only with plasma tv.....
