Re: Water leaking from bottom and hose not connected

The hose just pushes on. You will have to take the top cover off to rehook up the hoses. There are scres on the bottom, then where the dirty water tank sits, there tabs that you have to unhook, then the cover will come off. Note: the filter inside the ditry water tank, leave a gap at the top to the filter. If you push the filter all the way up, it won't spray or suck up.

Cleaning solution does not come out

When you are using upholstery hose the water/solution does not go through the heater so see if water sprays out of upholstery attachment (this may take a little while for water to travel the distance). If it does than you know your pump is good. If water does spray out of hose but not out of bottom of unit it will more than likely be a clogged heater unit caused by water calcification or detergents. This can be cleaned out however it is not an easy job. And, if the heat insolators are not placed exactly in place, it can lead to plastic melting.

Why is water pouring out the bottom when I try to use upholstery attachment?

On many hoover models the hose attaches to the vacuum and is held on by a clip on the hose assembly. There may be some damage to your hose or the place where it attaches to the machine. Inspect these areas trying to locate the point of the leak.

Water leaks out under the unit when using the upholstery attachment?

You may wish to check and see if the leak is where the small water supply hose is plugged in to the cleaner base. That connecction supplies water from the product, to the spray end on the upholstery hose.

Leaks when trying to use upholstry cleaner!

This is a common problem for these units, and is easily fixed.

Bad connection:
You may need to push harder on the coupling when attaching it to the machine

A leaky Valve
Manytimes the Valve you connect to can bust or crack where you cannot see it.
Remove the hood and inspect valve. (six screws on underside)

Leaky hose
The hoses that run to the Valve you connect to can come loose or crack.
Remove the hood and inspect hoses. (six screws on underside)

This machine may be leaking the whole time you use it, and you my just not be noticing.
If you are in a northern climate, freezing machines in garages or cars is the most common cause.

Hoover Steam Vac leaks like a sieve

I have the same problem with my hoover steam vac, different model but same problem. So I have had it for 2 years and never used the attachments because the thing leaked out the bottom when i tried. So today I tried to find a solution online and found nothing. So I started toying with the thing and found a solution for my model and I hope it will work for everyone else. I don't have a stair attachment so this goes for the upholstery cleaning attachment. I noticed right where my upholstery attachment connects to get soap, there is a second hole that is covered by a white rubber seal when the cover for the connection area is closed. I put a plastic bag, or anything to seal it, into this hole to make a tight seal. Tried the machine and worked like a champ. So Would be nice if hoover supplied a plug for that, but oh well worked for me hope it works for others with a hoover steam vac.

Leaking from bottom

It is the steamvac pump that is bad. When you fill up the tank with solutions, even though it is not running the solution leaks out, and when you turn it on it sprays up and out the sides etc. Also the attachment doen't work either, no solutions comes out. Apparently the float sticks in this. My husband fixed it once, and now he can't, need a new part. Options are take it to a hoover service dealer, or I found 2 place online that sell the part. One is and the other is, this site if you look at different size pumps have a description of the problem: "If your Hoover Steam Vac is leaking or water will not come out of the attachment hose, then this is the part that you probably need !!!
This part is for F5914-900 model. Hope this helps

Cleaning uphoustry

Furniture cleaning isn't a science: try out a few techniques before choosing the one that is right for your belongings. This step-by-step guide explains how to clean a sofa:
  1. Before using any upholstery cleaning products, vacuum the sofa or chair first to remove as much surface dirt and dust as possible. Be sure to use the correct attachments to avoid damage to the material - a soft brush attachment is ideal.
  1. Spot Clean. Using baby wipes or vinegar poured onto a strong microfiber cloth, apply to any obvious stains, wiping gently as you go. Remember to test the upholstery cleaning products on an inconspicuous area first.
  1. Overall Clean. Using soapy water and a microfibre cloth, gently wipe your sofa with the solution, allowing it to soak into the fabric and tackle the dirt beneath the surface. You only want to use a very small amount of water - don't saturate the material.
  1. Dry. Some people use a hairdryer to quickly dry a sofa, but allowing it to dry naturally is always the better option, if you have the time. To speed things up, open windows and allow the breeze to help with the drying process.

Hoover Upright SteamVac Deluxe with stair and upholstery cleaner

Don't listen to Solution #1, it is simply NOT correct. This is the correct answer:

As you stated, you already know where the water hose connection is. It is under the easily visible port cover on the top of the base.

What is NOT easily visible is the connection for the vacuum hose. That's because the machine needs to be "reconfigured" before the hose can be attached. To "reconfigure" the machine:
1) Remove the cover off the waste water tank and notice how things appear--it will soon be important.
2) Find and remove the "panel" on the front of the waste water tank by sliding it straight up and out.
3) Replace the panel with the connector by sliding it straight down. When finished the top should look something like it did in step 1). This assures that the dirty water will be vacuumed into the waste water tank.

Hose Attachment

On the clean / dirty water tank there is a red lint lint filter, this is on the upper part of the tank,
If this is blocked it reduces the suction ,this must be free from debris,
If you are using the turbo brush ,
there is a sliding switch on the brush, This diverts the suction from the brush to the nozzle of the attachment ,
You should see the dirty water traveling up the hose ,
You should only use bissells own cleaning solution as using another product would null your guarantee
