Definitely not. Norton is malfunctioning, either reinstall it or, much better, replace it.

Agreed, good FREE choice is Comodo Internet Security. just make sure you download the right one, 32 or 64 bit.

- To clear this out, the AV software closes unexpectedly and a restart is needed to re-enable virus protection? The problem is that a program should not behave like this and the PC should not be unprotected even for a minute, a second. And to the manual restart might happen even after hours, when the user finds it out. Not acceptable.
