Your computer is getting too hot. Get canned air and spray all the dust out, especially the dust in and around the proccessor and heatsink (big metal grille).
Then move the computer off shaggy carpet and move it several inches away from the wall.

If that doesn't wokr you may have hardware incompatabilites, like with your memory or graphics card.

Why does air con lock up, restart, run 5 min. then lock up again?

Sounds like it freezes the evaporator, not lock up. If this is the case, your a/c is overcharged, or the expansion valve is stuck open.

I'm working on a system with a (Asus P4PE Motherboard) hard drive won't boot to post. Just keeps restarting system. Never gets to Post. Also I found a Roach or a Water bug on the motherboard when I was...

pull the ram, unplug all devices and restart. then if you get post, turn off, and add (1) dimm module, and restart. add another dimm and restart. obviously i think its the ram

Fedders Window unit

The capacitor's for running, too. The resistor across the capacitor is supposed to be warm but not hotter than boiling. Just disconnect the capacitor and check for a short if you suspect it; but it would be warm someplace.
The timer unit is usually reliable, but if it permits a thermal cutout after 5 min. and the cutout device is a little skittish, it could be either that cutout or a hot-side cutout (or thermostat) failure. Replace, don't bypass.
