Why does my icon disappears on mac

why does my word perfect icon disappears on mac

but i can go back into programs and pull it up

how can i keep my work or icon on desktop?

make an alias of the appropriate program or work folder by single clicking on the application or folder going to the file menu and selecting "make alias" then you can drag the alias (shows up italics) to your desktop. Hope this helps
