Hot Compressor, no Cooling

My unit is 2002 and is not cooling at all. Compressor "clicks" on and off when temp button is alternated between "cool" and "colder". The compressor gets very hot and there is no cooling at all on the lines. There are no fittings to check the pressures. What to do?

Re: Hot Compressor, no Cooling

If you have clamp tester / read the label of the compressor how many amphere register give allowance 5 amphere during testing time if register for example 3 to 5 amphere the label is 3 amphere is good the compressor / but it will register 0.5 or 15 amphere or up the compressor is badly replace.

The ac is not working properly. It goes from cold air, to hot air. I charged the ac with R134 coolant, but is not helping. What is the problem?

If your unit is cooling and heating ok make sure the mode your on is not an automatic mode as this makes the unit change between heating and cooling to maintain set temp select either cooling only mode or heating only mode this means once set temp is reached unit will stop until it notices a rise or drop in temp and will come on again in your set mode

Aircon is only blowing ambient air with no cooling effect. the indoor and out door unit appear to be operating normally. am I out of gas or is the compressor not running? what could cause this to suddenly...

First of all check your compressor is working with correct amps. If yes, service your unit to improve better cooling. If compressor not working find out the root cause for it. Please call repairman to find the fault.
We can only give solution by having particular cause or error code is stated by you.

And also follow these tips always:
To get proper cool, keep the tips as follows:
1. Check air filter is cleaned. 2. Check indoor coil is cleaned. 3. Checkindoor blower motor is working. 4. Keep in cool mode. 5. Set temp minimum 3degrees less than room temp.6.Check compressor is working with correctpressure.
Thanks. Helpful?

A/c runs cool for about 20 minutes and then does not cool anymore. keeps running but does not cool.

Is the compressor still running or has it kicked out? The normal problem is that the unit is low on freon and the compressor is not cooling because of this. If the compressor is kicking off an feels hot to the touch but the inside coil is sweating when the compressor kicked off the compressor is going bad. On an outside chance the thermostat can be going out if you turn it to off or all the way down you should hear an audible click and again when you turn it up normally its good if the click is audible. good luck

Unit does not cool. Original unit was replaced because of defective compressor. Replacement unit worked in store but now does not cool and alternates blowing cool and warm air.

Is this a window unit? Sounds like the compressor may be cutting on and off. That would cause the alternating air temp you are feeling. Make sure the condenser fan is running. If it isn't running head pressure will build up on the compressor until it shuts down. Then the pressure will equalize and the compressor will kick on again. Also check your filters and the condenser coil to make sure it is clean. Let me know what you find.

Compressor starts then stops after maybe 3 mins

Any error codes? If not there may be a mechanical fault with the compressor/inverter. The unit is possibly short on refrigerant, so the compressor is not getting enough suction cooling from return gas, so may be clicking off on its internal over temp klixon.

all the best

I have a thermal cool portable air cond. package unit. Mod. # mac 12, it runs but will only cool to 71/70 degrees. theres no shreder valves to check press. should i put one in on the suction side, and see...

Hi; Please dont take this the wrong way but never open a closed freon system unless You suspect a leak and can find it..Is the unit trying to cool a space too large for the BTUs of cooling avaliable. Is the suction line sweating back to the compressor. Are the evaporator and condensing coils clean. How old is the unit. Is there still a warranty on the unit. There is a device called a pressure temperature chart. In other words if You can determine the temp. at the suction line withen 6 inches from the compressor You can cross reference the freon pressure.
Also rember the output cooling temp. will only be 15 degrees cooler than the temp. inside the space being cooled . So if its 80 degrees in the space being cooled the unit will give about 65 degree air.

Fedders heat pump/ac unit

The compressor is hot and is tripping on overloads. Shut off, let cool off and after is cool see if it will start again. If it does start, check to make sure that it has a ful charge, and check for bad capacitor. There's a reason why it gets hot

My low side is 90psig and high side 250 psig what is going on

If it is very hot in the house the suction will be high but not that high. If you have a 13 seer inside and a 10 seer outside your suction can be that high if you don't lower fan speed. Does your unit coll ok. Another reason if it is not cooling well is bad valve in compressor but the compressor would going out on internal overload because of getting to hot. If you have TXV metering device it could be stuck open. Check sub cooling. Put a thermometer on the 3/8 line and measure the difference between that temp and the guage temp. Look at your pressure and the temp reading is nest to the pressure. The difference should be between 12 and 16 degrees. Measure Large line temp for superheat difference should be between. 12 and 16 degrees. Feed back please

Two lennox heatpump 71/2 tons

check the true psi with the line psi to see if same if psi is good in cooling 225 hi and 70 low on 80'day then compressor is fine and i would start checking for temp difference on the reversing valve sometimes this will cause high suction or high discharge psi shift it manually with by energising it be cooling or heating then pull wire and see how it shifts if shifts good then txv on out door unit could be bad what is the psi in heating on the discharge line going to the indoor unit? most prv's are set at about 350 psi r22 as for suction line size its only hot gas in hp mode os no problem their shows in cooling mode as low suction psi ..hope this helps some also make sure indoor coil is clean!....thanks & rate me
