Hot Compressor, no Cooling

My unit is 2002 and is not cooling at all. Compressor "clicks" on and off when temp button is alternated between "cool" and "colder". The compressor gets very hot and there is no cooling at all on the lines. There are no fittings to check the pressures. What to do?

When i turn my air contioner on, nothing but air comes out, no cold air. I replaced the compressor motor starter and still nothing. I did not how ever replace the Fan/Run capacitor because the fan is still running. I do not know what next step to take. I'd appreciate any help.

Not cooling. Temp readout at 22 degrees. Reset to 4 but returns to 22. Compressor sounds like it is running and is hot. Any clues?

If unit not cooling adequately the evaporator might be frozen affecting freezer and refrig temps. If frozen, the defrost timer and/or element might be kaput and need replacement. If that all checks out , if your unit has an electronic panel there could be something wrong with the temperature circuit which would entail a board replacement.

Why is this not cooling

Is it a portable a/c unit? Is it vented properly- out a window? Does it shut off if the drip pan is full of water?
I have a different brand portable a/c unit and find that while they say it can cool a room, I don't think it will work well on its own- a window unit would be better. I use mine in a bedroom to cool a little more than my central unit.
These units need to exhaust hot air outside the room it's trying to cool. Some will shut off if the internal drip pan fills with condensation to avoid water spilling and damaging floors.
I don't use the "auto" mode on mine, just set the temp and make sure the compressor on in manual.

2002 Jetta 1.8T blew 40A cooling fan fuse - overheated, destroyed 4 way cooling hose connector - replaced all- now it still runs very hot, inside temp reads 190 (but temp is much higher), cooling fans run...

Then replace the thermostat, because if on lower hose not hot and on upper hose scalding hot = antifreeze flow blocked by the thermostat wich remains closed!!!

Our danby dwc 283bls is not cooling. The motor

If compressor is running and it gets hot and the unit does not cool the compressor is bad or you have a leak in the system. if you see oil there's a leak.

Compressor working, cooling coils hot, but unit won't cool below

When you say fully charged, did you weigh the refrigerant? These small systems cannot tolerate overcharging by even small amounts because it will result in overpressure on the suction side. If there's too much refrigerant you get hot coils and cool but not cold evaporator. I typically pump the refrigerant into a recovery tank and then weigh it back in to get exactly the amount on the mfg label.

Amana side by side compressor not running

Cleaning the fins is always good. Is the fan by the compressor running? It needs to help cool the compressor. The description you mention sounds like the compressor is overheated and tripping the thermal overload on the compressor. See if you can turn if off for a day to let it all return to room temp then see if the compressor kicks on. If it was overheated it should run again for a while before overheating again. Let us know how that works and we can go from there.
