Westell Modem will not connect to internet

Experienced slight power outage last week. Ordered new modem, model E90-610014-06. All cords are connected properly, modem lights working properly. Home page to IE http://www.yahoo.com/. When trying to open IE message appears . . . IE cannot display the web page. Checked internet options, everything appears to be okay there. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Shut down your firewall. Hook your modem up directly to your computer. Hit the reset button on the modem and follow the instructions on the screen. You have reactivate the modem and verizon has there own program and it should start up automatically.
