I've got an SD-P1600 that is having reading problems.
DVDs take forever to get through the boot-up sequence, and stops with a "No Valid Disc" message. CDs boot up fine, but occasionally freeze.
In both cases, the discs work properly with other players.
This seems like a firmware/software problem, because the drive, carriage and laser seem to be working - otherwise I would think the player would not be reading CDs at all either.
The player isn't covered by warranty any longer. Is this a problem worth fixing, or will repair likely cost more than replacement?
-   I'm having the same problem. Player will read audio CD and will display jpg files from a CD. Now add to that the recall on the power supply...it's starting to look like a real dog of a product.-   Guest
