My xbox 360 is playing dvds but not games why??

The laser is weak.
The laser are cheap 20.00-30.00
and not hard to replace if you want
to save some money.

Success rate is 99% with a new laser
calibration isn't needed just the removel of
a small antistatic solder dot on laser.

I replace about 3-5 a week.

A DVD is usually Single Layer 4.7 gig Capacity approx.
An XBOX 360 gamedisk is Dual Layer DVD 8.5 Gig capacity.
The laser unit powers up higher, to read the second layer of the Disk.
You need a replacement DVD drive, laser replacement is possible as a cheaper option. but the success rate is very low, Due to re-calibration.
