Xbox 360 is not giving video or audio output, ring

xbox 360 is not giving video or audio output, ring is flashing green but seems random and noise from fan seems louder. tried unplugging to no avail and the console is hardly ever used so have no clue. any ideas

the switch on the hdmi cable may have been switched to hd (if your on a non-hd tv) or onto tv (if you are on a hdtv) try switching it back, that might be it...
