Brand new Acer 15.4

Brand new Acer 15.4" screen. Display does not fill entire screen. It has a blank 2 1/2" strip on the right side and a 3/8" weird blank strip on the bottom that goes slightly freaky when you run the mouse over it. The computer seems to be running slow too. Screen was a replacement part number from a good supplier. (Screencountry.com). Do I need to re-install the driver? I am contacting Screencountry but they are on PST and are not open yet.
