Receiver shuts off at times

I have loved this receiver, but the receiver nows shuts off when watching a movie and there are some deep bass tones in the movie. I can then turn on the receiver again, lower the volume and usually are ok. Any idea what could be causing this?

My email address is [email protected]

Thank you for your assistance

I own a Yamaha RX-V795a, and it's worked great for the past 8 years, but recently it's having problems. I can watch a movie greater than 1/4 volume and in no specific time frame it will turn off. I can turn it back on and it will do the same thing right away, but when i decrease the volume it will work fine. I havn't changed any wiring or anything for past few years, and it just started doing this about 4-5 months ago. It there a resistor that is overloading that needs replaced or is it a bigger issue. Is the repair going to be worth it versus buying a new one? Please let me know if it is an easy fix. Any advise is helpfull. Thanks

Those recivers are usually preety good oones with little to no problems. Its just when it gets a certin age it extends its life. You can take it in to a technician to have it serviced, mostly you have cracked solders on the board which will accout for the problems you are having. there might be a few things that need changing but basically your recuver is good it just needs servicing thats all.
Or if you prefer you could get a new one.. BUT YOU CAN JUST HAVE THE CURRENT ONE YOU GOT SERVICED..

a service wil include
re-soldering cracked or loose solders on the board
changing a couple of stuff, maybe capicators or resistors and unlikely an ic.
dusting it

So just take it in to a technician for a service cause its reached it life span ,,

My receiver just shut off while watching a movie and won't turn back on. I checked the only fuse i could find. Where to go from here.

Press and hold the "straight" and "Tone control" buttons and press power. This should release the protect lock that the receiver is in. If it shuts back off immediately, then you most likely have a blown amp that will need to be repaired.

Twin Genius speakers model SP-K10 now carrying sound of intermitent machine gun fire on one speaker and deep bass humming on the second speaker. This is new - what can be the cause?

Could be interference from another electrical device or a loose connection. Or you forgot that you were watching Saving Private Ryan.

Turn off the movie, and then try moving them away from anything electrical; TV, monitor, PC mainly. Cordless phones can do it as well.

I have a Denon receiver, had it for a couple years now and has worked perfectly. Last week I was watching a movie and all of a sudden my receiver shut off and it blinked a red ring of death. I let it rest...

Did you recently move any speakers around or any items near the speaker wire connections?
It sounds like you may have a speaker wire shorting which is causing the receiver to go into "auto protect" mode. Check all of the speaker wire connections on the back of the receiver and at all of the speakers to make sure the wires are not touching or close enough to possibly touch.

The receiver sound shuts off

There is a problem with the receiver that is allowing DC voltage to get to the output amp section. This is detected and the protection circuit shuts down the receiver. Yamaha uses coupling capacitors between sections to prevent this. If one of these is defective, it would explain your symptom. This should be a relatively simple repair for a repair shop. Expect $10-$25 for parts plus the local labor rate.

Receiver shuts off at times

There is some leakage of DC voltage getting to the output section. DC voltage will cause the protection circuit to kick in and shut down the amp. This should be a relatively simple repair and cost about $15-$30 in parts plus the local labor rate.
