I have a new DCE33 scotsman ice machine. No spray small flow
I have a new DCE33 scotsman ice machine. It goes through cycles correctly water is introduced but the spray nozzles do not spray water into the cube forms above. The nozzles do not spray, only a rolling flow about 3/4 inch high not high enough to reach the cube forms above. Any suggestions?
I spoke with Scotsman and they advised me to prime the pump by pouring water into the resevoir in the rear of the machine. I did this and Ice was dumped in a few minutes. Time will tell if this corrected the problem and it continues to harvest ice. Thanks for the replies. Cleaning should not be needed it is brand new installed a few weeks ago. Hey Dan. I have an 8 year old Scotsman DCE 33. Just replaced the cube control unit to solve a no ice problem. Sprayers still not consistent and starts uniformly but then change to just bubbling out. Then replaced spray pump - still same problem. Has to be a block somewhere - right?Hey Dan. I have an 8 year old Scotsman DCE 33. Just replaced the cube control unit to solve a no ice problem. Question edited for full 'make model (what it is)' and spelling of 'reservoir'.
Matt Solves his own issue, well done and thanks for coming back with the answer.
UPDATE (since I cant figure out how to answer my own question):
Figured out that it was just a faulty pressure sensor. I believe it got water in it which was disrupting its function... I took the pressure sensor apart and reassembled it and now it can keep up with the drainage out of the reservoir.
Interesting note, which I hadn't realized before, the hose from the reservoir drains much faster than the bin... the bin has small holes that lead to the drain whereas the reservoir tube can have good throughput.
The bin has most likely failed. Apparently the bin insulation on the DCE33 eventually gets saturated with water and loses it's insulation ability. Consequently the ice melts prematurely. Condensation starts to build up inside the bin because it's not cold enough adding to the problem as the water drips on the new ice inside the bin.
Mine is 5-yrs old and I was told that it's all the life I'll get out of it.
If everything else is workng properly, harvest time, cube size, cold water spray, then a new bin is the unfortunate solution.
The manual has an exploded parts diagram use as guide to locate parts.
First check the timer, you can manually turn it through a cycle or watch it rotate on its own.
Check the water inlet solenoid valve. if all looks well and you have definite water flow past the valve, then
Check spray pump. You have to remove the rear panel. The pump has a fan on the top. spin the fan if it is at all tight the ;pump is bad.
I have owned 2 of these units and have had failures of all of the above parts over the years.
Check to see if your condensor coil is clean, use an air compressor or other source to blow thourgh the coil, dont just brush it off. newer refrigerant charged systems need as much air flow as possible to work ,also make sure the cover is on the condensor section while the ubit is in nrmal operation. try setting the cube size to lowest setting and let run for 24 hrs. Let me know if you need further assistance.
Make sure the curtain is not torn and there are no leaks from the resivoir. If ok check to make sure you have enough water pressure to the machine. Make sure you have enough water passing through the valve during harvest cycle. To check... turn the timer cam to harvest cycle. Water should come in quickly behind the curtain on the right side and the timer should advance three minutes to freeze portion of cycle and stop running. Water should spray and form ice for approximately 25min. Then the timer advances for 5 minutes into harvest cycle and it refills with water again.
