Hi daniel70,
I see that you have put in a new cartridge. Probably worth a shot to get some high quality rubbing alcohol and Q-tips then clean the contact (copper) points in the cartridge slot and on the cartridge.
To do this:
1. Power up the printer
2. Open the cartridge access door on the front right of the printer
The printer will move the cartridge holder assembly to the open-door section where you can get at it.
3, Then, unplug your printer. This protects the unit as you clean the internal contacts.
4. remove the black cartridge and look inside the printer at the cartridge holder slot with a strong flashlight. You will see contact points inside. Clean these with a small amount of rubbing alcohol on a Q-tip and blow the contacts dry.
5. You should also clean the back of the cartridge and make sure that the protective cover (supplied with the new cartridge) has been completely removed. Also, make sure it is dry before you put it back in the printer. Make sure it "snaps" in place as well.
Just a note that you can refill these cartridges many times with no issue and there is no restriction in this printer that prevents you from doing so (my black cartridge has been filled eight times). You can see my tip on this at:
