Camera not imaging correctly

when i turned the camera on this morning, it was like it didn't fully load. the splash screen came on, but the camera seemed to get stuck and projected a very staticy image. this happened with both the usb connection and the video connection. i can bring up the menu. is there a way to "reset" the camera?
