Yeup! I have the same watch and I had the battery replaced. Now it shuts off after about an hour of use and resets. The screen goes blank and then it will turn on when ever it decides to wake up and then the time is totally wrong. It worked great for about 2 years. As for paying the company $65.00 to fix it... And the Watch brand new went for $79.00 at Wal-Mart... Well at that price, I'll use it for target practice and go by a Timex Atomic Watch for about $20 and let them replace the battery every year or so for less than $5.00 and not have to deal with the hassle of something that continually malfunctions and causes me irritation. Much cheaper, and more dependable!
the battery of my casio 2608 g-shock too ran out. i think casio is blatantly misrepresenting its watch as solar powered. it may be technically accurate but as a consumer, i take it to mean that it recharges the battery. so i sent my watch in to casio's california service center called Time Machine. it took them 6 weeks to replace the battery and charged me $65. i think casio should be investigated for false claims or the subject of a class-action suit.

I have a casio GW300 (2608) and it needs a battery....I checked Radio Shack They said they stocked the Battery.....Heheh....They DON'T.....Their battery is the wrong one....Only the Panasonic 1616 will work. Radio Shack didn't even know about the "capacitor battery"......Beware !!!

Hey all. The charge provided by the solar cells on the watch only really extend the life of the battery. The total run time of a battery depends on how the watch is used... backlight requirements etc. The battery will be depleted and need to be replaced.
Here is a site that has good instructions on how to change the battery in your G-Shock watch.
If you want to ensure you still have a the same water resistance rating, I do suggest that you take it to a watch guy to have it replaced for you. They clean switch contacts also and you keep water resistance rating. Good Luck and vote this as a "FixYa". Cheers

But then the instructions I have provided you may not spply to you if you have a "solar"powered watch where a special type of rechargeable battery is used. Even rechargeable batteries dont last for ever and have a finite number of charge/discharge cycles. If your watch does not appear to be charging, Casio have explicit instructions on how to bets generate a charge from the sun. If attempts to charge fail... it is probable that your "rechargeable" battery is failing and will need to be taken to a Casio agent for replacement.
