Can you please tell me how to remove the case of the computer? I've not got a manual, and I can't figure it out. Thanks

Sorry, this doesn't work...there are "feet" on the bottom, can't see how you could slide the back section down, if that's what you meant.

I don't have too much savy with computers, but I did figure out on my own to unscrew the screws...give me some credit, okay!! Seriously, the pics you sent were great; my 5461 Presario doesn't look like that on the back; the case (by that I mean top and both sides) are one piece of metal which has been bent around to form the actual case. The screws are threw the edges of this metal which wraps around to the back about 1/4". There are 2 add'l screws around the fan grill location, but even after removing those, that back panel isn't moving.

does anyone how to get the front grill off persario 5461

I have exactly the same problem. The screws in the back of the computer fastening the metal, three-sided cover to the back of the computer do not release the cover for removal.
The metal cover is inserted into the plastic face covering the front and there are two large rubber "feet", one on each of the bottom corners of the rear of the computer. The cover won't budge. There does not appear to be any screws or plastic holders to release the plastic front.

Can anybody tell me the location and/or board identifier of the bios chip on the motherboard for this model. I'm trying to clear out a password (the start-up kind) for a friend of mine, but I've...

some motherboards do have a pin/plug which can remove passworcs i would need to name and model number of the board to find the specifications Power off the computer and make sure that it is unplugged

Open up your computer case. You need physical access to the motherboard to complete this procedure

Find a circular, (mostly) silver metallic object on the motherboard. This is the CMOS battery

CAREFULLY remove the CMOS battery, avoid touching it with your fingers, and leave it out for about 120 seconds. This will flush the CMOS memory which stores the BIOS password and all other configuration. (See Warnings)

Set the battery back into place and power on the computer

The computer should then warn you that the CMOS configuration could not be found. You can either reconfigure it yourself or restore defaults. Restoring the default configuration should be fine.

You will notice that the BIOS password has been cleared and you can boot without it. You may reset the BIOS password to something else by going into the BIOS configuration and setting a new User Password (The Supervisor Password controls access to the BIOS, NOT the computer!)

Hope this helps

I need to physically open my zd7020us because the metal part where AC adapter connects to went inside the laptop. Does anyone have a repair manual that would tell me what to unscrew and how to repair it?...

Open the access panelUse the following steps to open the case: WARNING: The edges of metal panels can cut skin. Be careful not to slide skin along any interior metal edge of the computer. CAUTION: This product contains components that can be damaged by electrostatic discharge (ESD). To reduce the chance of ESD damage, work over a noncarpeted floor, use a static dissipative work surface (such as a conductive foam pad), and wear an ESD wrist strap connected to a grounded surface.
NOTE: If you need product model specific graphics and instructions for opening the PC, search for a support article that specifically pertains to your computer. In the Search field (or Questions or keywords field) at the top of this page, type your computer model number, a space, and the words "opening the case."
  1. Turn off the computer and unplug all cables, except for power, and write down each cable location.
  2. Unplug the power cable and press the Power button.
  3. If possible, move the computer to a clear, flat, stable work surface over an uncarpeted floor.
  4. Remove the panel retaining screws.

Makita ML902 Flashlight how to open case housing to repair

Makita ML902 - great flashlight. but I wanted to upgrade the lamp to LED, and found that the POLARITY was wrong . so i HAD to open the dern thang. the 'special tool' and 'keep in-house' conspiracy had me 'fuming' ... turns out if one were to mark the EXACT spot that the pivot occurs with a felt pen, by drilling a small (sized) hole on each side, (stop as soon as the bit is thru! the shiney material that you stop at are lamp straps) then pressing 2 stiff objects from both sides, the head pops off ! one more screw is uncovered, making it an even 4 screws holding it all together. When i opened the case up, one wire wasn't even soldered to the switch ! aargh. so - swapped polarity, re-soldered the connections, add a bit of fresh solder, re-assemble, voila! I love the 9 volt cases, upgrading everything to 12v and 16v lithium 18650 cells. these old Makita ensembles are great! saw, drill, angle drill, light...
