My i phone camera will take a picture but then the

My i phone camera will take a picture but then the shutter stays closed on the screen, the picture i have taken appears as a very small thumbnail bottom left hand corner but when I try to look for it in my camera roll its not there. I have recently had problems since syncing my i phone with my laptop. Do I need to re sync?
