Hi i had the same problem on my 360,
so i got a new laser off of ebay,
and that didn't fix it so then i read some fourms,
and found that my drive motor that spins the disc was broken,
so i replaced that and now the xbox is working like new again :)
if your unit is still under warranty,
i would just send it to microsoft to have it fixed.

When i put an Xbox 360 game in it tries to play it as a DVD movie. please help!!!

When you try to play a DVD movie or an Xbox 360 game disc on your Xbox 360 console, you may receive an error message. This article presents step-by-step guidance to help you determine whether your disc is playable.
SYMPTOMS When you try to play a disc, you may receive the following error message: Can’t read this DVD.
CAUSE The DVD or game disc may be dirty or damaged. Because the console cannot read the disc well, it may even mistake a game disc for a DVD and report this error. If this problem occurs with multiple discs, even clean and undamaged discs, there may be a problem with your Xbox 360 console.
Note If you receive a different error message, such as one of the following messages, the problem is a different problem:
Error message 1 Can't play DVD. Wrong region code. Error message 2 Can’t play DVD. Family settings restrict playback of this DVD. If you receive one of these error messages, see the corresponding Knowledge Base article: 907620 While attempting to play a standard DVD movie using your Xbox 360 console, you receive the error message: "Can't play DVD. Wrong region code" 908645 While attempting to play a DVD movie using your Xbox 360 console, you receive the error message: "Can’t play DVD. Family settings restrict playback of this DVD"

THINGS TO TRY Here are some things that you can do to try to fix the problem or to determine what caused it.

Determine whether the disc is dirty or damaged Discs that are smudged, scratched, or otherwise damaged cannot be read by the Xbox 360 console. You will want to examine the disc to see whether it has smudges, scratches, or other damage. To do this, follow these steps: 1. Examine the disc for dirt or damage: a. Pick up the disc by its edges. Do not touch the top or bottom surface. b. Examine the shiny side of the disc to make sure that the disc is clean and has no damage.
NoteScratches that follow the curve of the disc are very damaging and prevent a disc from being read. If your disc has even one of these kinds of scratches, the disc is damaged, and you will no longer be able to play it. If this is the case, see step 4. 2. If the disc is dirty, clean the disc by hand: • Use a soft, clean, dry, chemical-free cloth to clean the disc. • Lightly wipe from the center of the disc outward. 3. After you clean the disc, try to load it in the Xbox 360 console. If the disc still will not load or you receive the same error message, the disc is damaged, and you will no longer be able to play it. If this is the case, see step 4. 4. If the disc is damaged, do one of the following: • Because DVD discs are not game discs and the disc was damaged because of misuse of some type, such as not storing the disc in its case, the only thing that you can do is buy a new one. • If you feel that the disc was damaged by the Xbox 360 console in some way, please contact Xbox Customer Support. Wont play on my xbox 360 new hour of victory game says wrong region wont play

This sadly means the game and Xbox 360 console aren't the same region. (Rather the game is region locked, meaning unless you have a Xbox 360 that plays those regions, the game is non-playable because the console can't read the disc.) There really isn't any solutions for this, other than take the game back to the store and ask for your money back because the region of the game doesn't play on your Xbox 360. Always make sure when buying Xbox 360 games that it's the right region code. (Or that it's a region free coded game) There are a few games like that out, one being Borderlands for example.

If it says PAL on the cover of the game for example, the game covers most of Asia, Africa, South America, Australia, New Zealand, and most of Western Europe. (List of common PAL regions can be found here.)
There are a few other region codes for games, so you better make sure you are buying the ones for your region.
Hope this was of some help.

Assassin's Creed 2 won't load on Xbox 360

Sounds like your cd drive is not reading the discs properly. If that's not the problem, then you have a scratched disc on your hands.

Do what I did. Go to sellitbroken.com and sell your scratched/non-working game to them. They will give you good money for it.

Message saying put disc into xbox 360

1. Turn off your XBox and unplug all cables from the console and the wall, including a wireless adaptor if you have one.

2. Clean off your game discs using a non-scratch cloth.

3. If your game discs are already scratched, you can most likely take them to a video game store, such as EB Games, and get it cleaned for a small fee.

4. Plug your cables back in, except for the wireless adaptor or network cable (ie. don't connect to the internet).

5. Start up one of your games and see if it loads.

6. If it loads, turn off your XBox, and connect to the internet.

7. If it still does not load, it may be a disc drive problem in which case, contact Microsoft XBox 360 support at: www.xbox.com

Help

After a while of play on your xbox 360, The eye, or other components within the console wear down. If none of the disks are being read as playable, the eye could be broken and worn. I hope that the console is under warranty, or the repair would cost $99.
