Frame counter-can't shoot

I just bought a nikon fg from ebay.As I was testing it I opened the filmdoor to reset the frame counter and it did.But since I closed it, the frame counter seems not to be able to proceed to the s(start) point.I must say that I'm trying this without a film inside the camera.Thank you!

Re: Frame counter-can't shoot

Having film in the camera makes no difference for the frame counter to work on this model. The counter is activated by a small tab that protrudes from the top edge of the film door near the hinge.

Locate the area on the camera where that tab meets in the channel along the top of the film compartment. There is a small opening for the lever that engages the drive gear for the counter. The opening may have debris (foam) or the tab may be broken. If neither of these is the case, the film door may be bent slightly and is not pushing the lever in far enough.

It is important for the counter to work on the FG since the metering is not active until the counter reaches '1'. (switch) It blinks 60 &125 in the display otherwise

N80 , frame number blinks, won't advance

According to the manual, the only time the frame counter blinks, is when the back is open or partially open when attempting to rewind film. Push on the back to be sure it's properly snapped closed to see if that solves the issue.

I purchased a Nikon N60 used. The film will not automatcally load therefore not shoot

Please follow these instructions: 1. Open the camera back 2. Pull the film leader across the red film index mark (red line) 3. Check to ensure film is properly positioned with no slack, then close camera back 4. Fully depress shutter release button to advance to frame 1. Check the rewind lever if it turns counter clockwise when you depress the shutter release button.
Keep on trying this procedure until you get it right. Most of the time, the error is in not pulling the film leader enough to reach the red film index mark.
If you're still having a problem with this, the next best option is to have the camera checked by a competent camera technician.

This won\'t be easy for you if you don\'t the proper tools, You have to remove the wind lever assy, and the speed dial, Then wind side top cover, Then pull wind base plate assy, And check counter reset lever, to make sure spring didn\'t come loose, Putting the baseplate back on can be fun because of linkage to the wind assy

Frame Counter Indicator does not go beyond the 26th and 27th Frame

Considering the age of the camera, you probably have a broken indicator gear in the top of the camera. The chances of getting it replaced aren't good. If it still works otherwise, I wouldn't worry about it. Just use 24 exposure film.
