itz may b caused frm many internal hardware cause, like the battery(main/cmos);
ram; sm section of the system board; ccfl; inverter circuit; or even
the lcd....
howevr, before proceeding to complex test to verify the current status
of ur laptop, at 1st all u need is to put on the laptop to charge for
atleast 4hrs..(the gauge status may show u a pseudo process).. if u
r a professional, remove the ram(s) from itz slot(s), gently rub itz
connector teeth using a rubber to remove carbon or oxide formed if any.. connect it to a external monitor n see if display is coming.. check the internal system battery to b above +3v..
so itz always better to hv supervision..frm ur system admin/vendor/good or authorised service center....
First you need to test if the problem is hardware or software: try to enter the BIOS by pressing on F1, F2 or Escape. If you can't then it's a hardware fail, take it to a shop. If you can then in the boot order put the CD first. Next download and burn a Linux Live-CD like PCLinuxOS - http://www.pclinuxos.com/ - and boot from it.
If the screen is black, again go in the BIOS and check that the local screen isn't disabled. If it isn't then it's a hardware problem. If in the Linux disk all is OK then it's a software problem: connect your laptop to another monitor and boot into windows; right click on the desktop, click Properties and in Settings input the correct resolutions and, for the one on the laptop, select the Primary option.

I can´t turn it on. I´ve had it checked and everything seems to be OK, although I suspect the battery´s life is ending. The current passes through, because the blue light is on, but it doesn´t turn on, and there´s no problem with the electric line.

I am so frustrated. This program feels like a scam to me. I have uploaded the pop several times; tried to fax the pop to 2 separate fax numbers provided and sent a copy in the postal mail; emailed customer service and still the status remains on my brother's request for a windows upgrade remains as "new" requires valid pop. This has been going on since November 4th. I purchased my notebook from hp and received my upgrade immediately. Needless to say in the future, toshiba will not be our choice for purchasing merchandise!
