On pata ,flate data cable use in long connerter . on sata cable we use thin and flatcable join in n small squire port. some bord have both type port we can use diffrent port in same time . but port should be good. i think there no chance to join different connecter joining. we look seriously. in any coonater we saw cuttin g shape or male female shape. power cable of smps which join in hdd/cd room may be lose when we join any part it can be short so connecting any cable before we do switch off or pullout powercable.

Change my gx620 motherboard with ide connector for dvd rom to a 745 motherboard which has sata connection for dvd rom so i purchased a sata dvd rom and sata cable plugged everything in but the dvd rom wont...

With sata there are two cables, just like ide. One is the power and the other is for data. The data cable goes from the device to the motherboard. The power comes from the power supply. If your power supply does not have a sata connection you can purchase an adapter that will turn an available 4pin Molex into a sata connection.

I have sata dvd writer.when i connect it my computer does not boot.does intel D102ggc2 supports sata dvd writer?

You're Intel motherboard does support up to 4 SATA hard disk drives including SATA CD-ROM / DVD-ROM drive, reader/writers. This MB also includes two serial ATA IDE ports.
The most likely reason you're system is not booting is because all SATA ports are all seen as Master drives. By connecting the SATA DVD-ROM drive the bios auto configured the SATA ports.
You'll need to enter the bios when you're system boots-up. Press the F2 key on you're keyboard right after hearing a single beep. You will than enter the bios main menu. Listed at the main menu are devices connect to the motherboard. (Instruction on how to move around in the bios is listed at the bottom of the screen). Mainly, the hard disk drive or (drives) and the SATA DVD writer. You'll need to open the Boot tab. Look for boot order. You want the boot order set like so;
First boot device: [Floppy disk] drive; if one is connected.
Second Boot device: [Primary Hard Disk] drive.
(The drive with windows installed on it). (This drive may be ATA IDE or SATA; you did not provide that information).
Third Boot device: [DVD-Rom] drive. Save and exit the bios. The system will auto restart.
You're windows operating system should load correctly after the auto re-start.
The SATA data cable and the SATA power cable should be checked for good connection. It only takes a little bump to make either loose.
Here is the link to Intel for you're motherboard;

Good luck!

Built a new computer but it won't go throught POST

The memory is the problem then, your board does not support it. From the specs page here: Supports Dual Channel DDR2 667/533, 2 x DIMM slots, Max. capacity up to 4GB

Change the RAM and it should work.
