Question about HP Compaq Presario R4000 Notebook
I had the power cord attached and plugged in to the surge protector as usual. I was typing and all of a sudden there was a low 'beep' and the computer shut down - no messages, nothing. And now it will not power back up.
This later remined me that in the past if I take that laptop and use it in another room, even if I plug it in with the power cord to a wall outlet after a few hours at most I would get a message that the battery was low and to save all files now and then the computer would hybernate. That should not have been happening either but since I rarely used it in that mode I forgot about that until today's incident. Any ideas what might be wrong?
Yeah i think you have your ac adapter burned or the surge protector blow up the protection fuse or there is some times like little botton that is a braker protection ,,,if you use extencion cord conect to a any kind of device you are overheating the device because the cord does not have the right wire that is required for the device and the device it will force it self to try to pull the power from the outlet

Bad battery. best way to kill a battery is to always have it charging and never using it or discharging it.
take the battery out and use it just with power cord, see if it shuts down again. or try to use it with JUST the battery if battery is bad the PC will not turn on or stay on
