Sound like the water level gauge is fouled with grease of food.
Remove the lower basket and remove the sump filter, the inner filter usually unscrews anticlockwise 1/4 turn. Clean this in soap powder and rinse with cold water.
With the lower basket still removed pour very hot water from the kettle down the hole clase the door and set the machine to the end of the drying cycle.
if this does not clear the problem seek professional help.
